What are some complex procedures treated by a dentist

What are some complex procedures treated by a dentistGeneral dentists are fundamental in managing your oral health and preventing the onset of oral pathologies. A general dentist is also well trained to handle some complex dental procedures like extractions, dental implants, crowns, dental bonding, bridges, veneers, root canals, and fillings. Also, at the request of a dental specialist, general dentists are also involved in more complex procedures where they assist in the treatment of complicated oral diseases.

Some common complex dental procedures

A simple tooth extraction is performed by a general dentist using special dental tools that dislodge and loosen the tooth from its socket. An extraction may be necessary if the tooth is too painful and damaged for repair. Dentists perform this procedure on visible teeth only. After an extraction, restorations may be required to replace the missing tooth for cosmetic and functionality purposes. Dental implants, crowns, and bridges may be recommended by your dentist to achieve this. Dentists are well qualified to offer these treatments.

For teeth that are not overly damaged to necessitate an extraction can be restored through procedures like veneers, dental bonding, veneers, root canals, and fillings. Root canals and fillings are performed on decayed teeth with damaged enamel, dentine, and pulp. A crown may be placed on a tooth undergone a root canal to offer extra protection. Veneers, sealants, and bonding is used to restore discolored or misshaped teeth and are mostly used for cosmetic purposes.

General dentists also help other dental specialists with complicated procedures like corrective jaw surgeries. The dentist, during your regular checkup, will examine your mouth and even take x-rays and other digital imaging to help orthodontists create a specialized treatment plan to correct your jaw abnormalities and bring symmetry and harmony to your mouth and facial structures. Basically, for any specialized care, you may require, your general dentist will make the recommendation and sometimes make a referral for you to a professional if your condition surpasses their expertise.
