Everything You Should Know About Invisalign

Posted on 11/8/2021 by Dick Hikade, DDS
Everything You Should Know About InvisalignInvisalign is a great alternative to traditional braces for those who want the benefits of straighter teeth without the pain and inconvenience of metal. In this blog post, we'll discuss how it works, what you can expect as far as treatment duration, and answer some frequently asked questions about Invisalign.

What is Invisalign, and how does it work?

Invisalign is a series of clear, customized, removable plastic aligners that work to move your teeth into the desired position. These custom aligners are designed by our orthodontist and made specifically for you based on impressions or scans of your mouth.

Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks, and they work to move your teeth into the proper position slowly. Since you're able to remove the aligner trays whenever necessary (eating, brushing, etc.), it's easier than traditional braces to maintain good oral hygiene while straightening your smile.

As you wear each set of Invisalign aligners, your teeth will move gradually into the correct position. Our orthodontist will monitor your progress and let you know when to switch to a new set of aligners so that treatment can continue uninterrupted.

Advantages of Invisalign

The main advantage of Invisalign is that it's less noticeable than traditional braces.
In addition, since you can remove your aligner trays as needed for cleaning and eating, it makes maintaining good oral hygiene easier. Plus, the fact that you can take out your aligners whenever necessary means that they won't interfere with your daily life.

You'll also enjoy the fact that Invisalign is virtually invisible, which means you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing. And since it's removable, there isn't any discomfort from wearing brackets and wires for an extended period of time.

Who can wear Invisalign?

Invisalign is appropriate for nearly everyone and can be used to treat a wide variety of orthodontic problems. Whether you want straighter teeth, better spacing between your teeth, or an improved bite, Invisalign may help achieve the results you're looking for.

However, there are some cases where Invisalign cannot provide the orthodontic results you need. For example, if the shape of your teeth or jaw prevents proper fitting of Invisalign aligners, traditional braces may be a better option for straightening your smile.
